Hamilton council moves on consent agenda, accepts playground donation and tables $6.5M bond ordinance

Hamilton Township Council approved a package of consent items on Aug. 20 and acted on several ordinances during a meeting that followed a Board of Health update.
The council moved to adopt consent agenda items CA1 through CA30, which included two "Click It or Ticket" grant awards, a local recreational improvement grant (about $74,000) to fund lighting at the Veterans Park skate park, a developer agreement with Genesis Bio Campus LLC for a proposed 166-unit rental development, and the annual agreement with Nottingham Ambulance Squad (a $40,000/year commitment). The presiding official asked for and obtained a roll-call vote on the consent agenda.
On ordinance business, the council approved Ordinance 1-24-029 to accept a gift of materials and labor from the Where Angels Play Foundation to enhance Apollo Park’s playground. James Angelino, founder of Where Angels Play, described volunteer-built playground projects and the planned delivery and build schedule for the donation; council members moved and adopted the measure on second reading.
The council also accepted a deed of right-of-way dedication from Deborah and Scott Talman for property at 353 Mercer Street (Block 1724, part of New Lot 47) and advanced other land-use and code updates.
Councilors voted to table a capital-improvement bond ordinance (Ordinance 4; $6,489,850 appropriation, authorizing $6,165,357 of bonds) and continue it to the next public meeting on Sept. 17. The item was tabled by motion and recorded by roll call.
The council considered an ordinance authorizing settlement and purchase of the White Horse Volunteer Fire Company property at 19 Locust Avenue (purchase price $35,000; estimated closing costs $10,000; total $45,000) and recorded discussion and votes during the meeting.
No council action at this meeting changed tax rates or created new long-term debt beyond items that were introduced or tabled for later consideration. The council set its next meeting for Sept. 17 and announced community events including a food-truck festival scheduled for Sept. 29.
