Ocean Pines environment committee finalizes outreach, annual report and outreach exhibits

The chair said she must submit the committee’s annual report by next week and recommended the document emphasize one or two accomplishments rather than repeat an extensive multi-year narrative. She asked members to review the draft and noted she will submit the report to staff (speaker 6) for aggregation with other advisory-committee reports.
Members confirmed that the committee contact email is environment@oceanpines.org (it had been misposted as “environmental” on the website) and discussed removing personal phone numbers from the online directory except for the chair. The chair said she would request that staff remove committee members’ phone numbers from public posting to reduce spam and unsolicited contacts.
For outreach, the committee discussed exhibits for a kickoff event and Bay Day: recycling demonstrations (including a “5 million miniature bottles” visual previously shown), oyster-cage demonstrations, signage ideas for ponds and trails, and inexpensive handouts (magnets/stickers) to promote reuse and recycling. Members volunteered to lead exhibit planning, catalog items for display and coordinate with Parks & Recreation and Coastal Bays where appropriate.
The meeting closed with routine items and a motion to adjourn; the chair declared the meeting adjourned at 11:18 a.m.
