During debate Trustee Sarah (identified in the transcript as a trustee who missed an earlier meeting) pressed the board on fiscal priorities, saying she was reluctant to move forward if residents would later be asked to pay for lead service line replacements. "I don't wanna hear about our residents having to pay a dime for the lead service lines. Not a penny," she said, arguing the village should not force residents to shoulder those costs while also funding the parking project.
Village staff responded that the village can pursue both projects and that sequencing and funding conversations have been ongoing; a staff speaker said the village had the financial capacity to execute both without detrimentally affecting the budget. Trustees requested further decisions on specific materials (cornices/corbels) be returned to the board as final selections are made; staff noted allowances are built into the contract and adjustments could return money to contingency.
