Village presents donation to Hesed House; F3 highlights volunteer partnership

The Village of Montgomery presented a check to Hesed House and heard remarks from the shelter’s executive director and a volunteer group leader.
Joe Jackson, identified as executive director of Hesed House, told the board the organization is "the second largest homeless shelter in the state of Illinois," has operated for 41 years and runs a campus that includes shelters plus a resource center offering job training, a medical center and substance‑use and family counseling. Jackson said the village’s donations help provide essentials such as diapers, formula, glasses and medication.
Torian Richardson, who identified himself as a member of F3 Nation and a member of the organization’s global board of directors, described F3 as a network of small men’s workout groups that seek to accelerate male community leadership and said F3 hopes to "build and uplift the community" through volunteer work at Hesed House.
Earlier in the meeting Cub Scout Pack 341 presented the colors and a cub, Jack Smith, briefly described a tour and a mock board meeting and registered his opinion that a nearby nuclear power plant would be a bad idea; the president noted that comment was entered into the record.
The board thanked volunteers and community sponsors and invited participants to remain briefly for a photo and presentation.
