The Eagle Point School District 9 Board of Directors on Aug. 25 approved a set of routine and substantive items including a revised 2024–25 school calendar, two alternative-education providers, a food-service contract with Sodexo, and a guaranteed maximum price contract amendment for seismic work at Eagle Point High School.
Board members voted unanimously to adopt the revised 2024–25 parent calendar, moving a May professional-development day into March 14 and removing March parent conferences to avoid conflict with state testing. Board members said the change was intended to reduce testing-day disruptions for students.
The board also approved two providers to serve as the district's alternative-education options for 2024–25: the district's ERCO program and a new online charter provider, Learning Home Oregon, for K–5 students who require out-of-class placement for disciplinary or medical reasons. The board discussed who would monitor placements and agreed principals and appropriate staff would oversee students, with follow-up updates planned midyear.
On food service, the board approved a contract with Sodexo America LLC for July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025, with four one‑year renewal options by mutual consent. As presented, the contract includes an optional enhanced menu priced at $4.60 per meal (versus a standard $4.30 base) offering fresher, less‑processed items, a districtwide minimum standard for salad bars, and publication of menus via the NutriSlice app to provide calorie and allergen information to families. Sodexo's manager, Amanda Jones, said the district has already received a first delivery of approximately 300 pounds of locally supplied grass‑fed beef that will be featured in a weekly "local beef" promotion.
The board approved a contract amendment with S.E. James Construction to continue seismic rehabilitation at Eagle Point High School under a state grant; the motion cited a guaranteed maximum price of approximately $2,168,691. Board members were told some construction items remain and the contractor ordered long‑lead parts months earlier; the project will continue into the early weeks of the school year and staff said they are coordinating gym access and activities during the work.
Routine business approved on the consent agenda included board policy GBDA, personnel actions, and annual designations of administrators and confidential employees. The board also scheduled a public hearing on a five‑year renewal request from CLA charter school; the superintendent and staff will present a report in October and the board expects to take a renewal decision at a future meeting.
