Commissioners approve crushing contract, equipment purchases, audit engagement and planning appointments

Jefferson County commissioners used their Nov. 18 meeting to approve several procurement, contracting and personnel items including a road‑material contract, two equipment purchases, audit engagement and planning‑commission appointments.
Procurement and equipment: Staff opened a public bid for rock crushing and reported a single acceptable bid from Brett Price Construction. The county accepted the bid, which staff summarized as $6.85 per ton for 5/8 inch material and $5.85 per ton for 3/4 inch material with a $4,000 mobilization for a total around $131,000; a motion to accept the bid was moved and seconded and passed by roll call.
The board approved a $9,500 purchase of a Polaris Sportsman ATV from Golden Spike Powersports (Ashton, Idaho). Staff said the ATV will replace an older unit and that the Bureau of Land Management will cost‑share 50% of a second purchase under a five‑year work agreement. Commissioners also approved replacing a worn pressure washer; after reviewing three bids they accepted a Hotsy unit from Watts Supply (Idaho Falls) for $5,500, citing higher horsepower/PSI and an extended warranty.
Contracts and finance: Commissioners accepted a building‑inspection contract with the City of Louisville and a similar contract with the City of Manheim, clarifying that records access will be provided digitally. On audit services, the board voted to engage Cyril & Hart to perform Jefferson County's audit for the next audit cycle.
Appointments and personnel: After an executive session, commissioners appointed Trevor Arnold, Sean Priest and Lacey Barney to the county Planning and Zoning Commission. Separately, the board approved placing employee number 1037 on unpaid administrative leave from Nov. 18–Nov. 30 following an executive‑session discussion.
All procurement and contractual approvals were made by motion, second and roll‑call vote during the meeting. County staff said purchase orders and engagement letters will be prepared to complete the transactions and that the ATV and pressure‑washer POs will be forwarded to staff for processing.
