Jefferson County adopts Parks fee increases after public hearing; single RV nightly rate rises to $40

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners on June 10 adopted Resolution 2024‑17 after a staff presentation and public hearing, increasing a range of Parks & Recreation fees at Jefferson County Lake.
Parks leadership told the board the lake and RV-area fees historically trailed nearby facilities and that rising costs for materials, utilities and maintenance require higher user fees to keep the facility self‑supported. The resolution raises single RV campsite nightly fees from $30 to $40 and double RV sites from $40 to $50. Other changes include shelter sites from $27.50 to $35, single tent sites from $18 to $25, group tent sites from $30 to $40, and adjustments to annual pass and vendor fees. The resolution also discontinues the $2 pet fee effective immediately.
No members of the public signed up to testify at the hearing. Commissioners discussed past increases (last in 2021), the intended use of additional revenue—water‑line repairs, tennis/basketball court maintenance and routine upkeep—and confirmed that revenues from lake fees are retained to support the lake’s operating needs.
The board moved and seconded adoption of the resolution and approved it by roll call. Commissioners also approved two seasonal vendor contracts for county lake concessions—a mobile food vendor described as the “Cheers” truck and a Corn Dog vendor—contingent on appropriate insurance and vendor requirements.
The increases take effect immediately as specified in the adopted resolution; county staff said they will use the added revenue for maintenance, critical repairs and to support growing summer demand at the lake.
