Evansville board takes bids under advisement, approves road closure and ratifies emergency demolition

Staff read bids for the ADA curb ramp project (project 24-009): JBI Construction Inc. submitted $170,320 and Rivertown Construction LLC submitted $168,891.90. Speaker 4 read the numbers aloud: “And their total bid is $170,320,” and later read the Rivertown amount. The board voted to take the bids under advisement.
For the crack seal project (project 24-016) staff reported three bids: Pavement Sealing Company Inc. — $240,944.40; Evansville Paving LLC — $299,969; and Rivertown Construction LLC — $423,956 (the Rivertown bid arrived in an envelope marked for the curb ramp project). The board took those bids under advisement as well.
Separately, the board approved a road closure request by Clint company for Main Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets from Oct. 21–25, 2024, contingent on receipt of required insurance. The presiding officer also recorded that an emergency demolition enforcement action had been approved earlier that morning by phone through the building commission; the board ratified that phone approval on the record.
The board approved bills and payrolls and adjourned after confirming there were no public comments.
Actions taken were routine procurement and permitting steps; staff did not provide additional schedule details for when bid awards would be returned to the board for final contract approvals.
