The Evansville board approved awarding project 24-004 — Walker Avenue drainage improvements — to Blankenberger Brothers for $345,200.
City staff said the work will upsize existing drainage facilities along Walker Avenue to handle additional runoff from upstream watershed changes tied to Lloyd Expressway improvements. “Contract’s been through legal review and been approved, and so we're just looking for board approval on this,” Speaker 2 said when the item was presented.
Bids for the project were opened Sept. 19, 2024; staff identified Blankenberger Brothers as the low bidder. The board voted to approve the contract and authorized staff to issue a notice to proceed so the work can be done this fall.
The award was presented as part of the city engineer’s agenda items; staff indicated this approval is a fall back to a previously discussed item and is intended to allow construction this season. No contractor performance timeline beyond 'this fall' was detailed in the record.
