Members of the Affordable Housing Fund Advisory Committee voted on Sept. 25 to adopt a monthly meeting cadence beginning in January 2025, with the proviso that any scheduled monthly meeting may be canceled if there is no business to consider.
Committee members discussed logistics, quorum concerns and building operations. Staff presented a city memo noting the building will be locked at 4:30 p.m., preventing entry or exit after that time. "The building will be closed at 04:30. So nobody in or out," Lana Abel, deputy director of the Department of Metropolitan Development, said, urging earlier meeting end times to avoid security costs and lockouts.
To prevent meetings from running past the closure, staff recommended moving future meeting start times earlier to 3 p.m. and proposed second Tuesdays as a likely recurring date for 2025. Members asked staff to poll the committee for final day selection; the motion adopting monthly meetings passed on a voice vote.
Staff will publish the 2025 schedule once polling is complete and will continue to cancel any monthly meeting with no business, consistent with the ordinance requirement that the advisory body meet at least six times per year.
