Solid-waste staff: landfill cells need reseeding; county to advertise vacancy after operator resignation

"They're not gonna sign off on that until we have 70% coverage on the re-vegetation," Brandy said.
The consultant recommended reseeding with crested wheatgrass (the seed used successfully on Cell 1); staff plan to drill-seed after Oct. 1 and before Nov. 15 so autumn moisture supports establishment. Brandy also reported an equipment-operator employee had given two weeks’ notice and the county will advertise to fill the split position that serves both landfills.
Commissioners discussed selling aging equipment (a Pozi shell machine purchased in 2011) and suggested starting price guidance — roughly 50% of the original purchase price — while staff research current market values.
No formal motions were taken on reseeding or equipment sale; staff will return with firm bids and a hiring plan.
