Souderton construction projects move forward: West Broad, Indian Crest and Salford Hills updates

Construction managers gave operations committee members a detailed update on three capital projects on June 11.
At West Broad, ICS reported substantial site work completed during phase 2, the establishment of a temporary bus loop and ongoing foundations and steel preparation. The team said they will use temporary walls, carts for mobile art and music, and swing space strategies to minimize classroom disruption during fall renovation work; classroom phases are projected to run into December.
Indian Crest’s work includes masonry removal, sanitary line replacement and HVAC/mechanical rough‑ins in science classrooms; contractors showed photos of demolition, trenching and new plumbing rough‑ins. Salford Hills crews reported excavation for a new addition, stormwater controls and ongoing rock removal; the managers said rock work has been manageable so far and will be scheduled to minimize noise during school hours.
Board members pressed for a clear parent‑communication plan before school opens; contractors and administration said they will replicate the Valley and Franconia approach with newsletters, walk‑throughs for students and staged construction schedules. Administration noted the chiller swap is planned during the winter months and the district is budgeting for equipment replacements such as 3‑D printers in other programs.
