During discussion board members agreed to approve the cooperative and the fee but to exclude the clause about transportation (item 4) until staff obtains clarification from La Crescent and confirms feasible bus or van scheduling. Mark moved to approve the agreement without item 4; Josh seconded. The chair called the question and announced the motion carries.
Board members emphasized the district will not make special early-day trips for a single student; they asked administrators to explore using existing vehicle routes, coordination with La Crescent’s transport options, or parent-arranged solutions. Administrators said they will follow up with La Crescent’s athletic director and report back to the board with a clarified transportation plan before practices begin.
The board’s action approves district participation and the fee but does not commit the district to provide the transportation currently described in the draft agreement. The district noted practice start dates and timing considerations (03:15 practice start; students may need to leave school around 03:00) as it seeks a workable schedule.
