Another trustee called for a voluntary code of conduct for candidates and their affiliates to curb toxic campaign tactics.
Wall denied allegations that he had settled an $850,000 lawsuit, saying the litigation predates his service on the board. He also named an individual he said was behind the online material and called on local residents who know that person "to take this site down." Several trustees urged legal follow-up and community-based remedies, and Wall told the board he planned to pursue separate legal avenues if necessary.
Public speakers who came to the mic echoed the board's support. Jeannie Wall and other residents described the attacks as defamatory and urged the board and community to push back against smear tactics. Patty Desaro, president of the Holmdel Teachers Association, addressed the board separately to reaffirm teachers' commitment to students.
The board did not take formal disciplinary action during the meeting. Trustees said they would discuss next steps, including continued public dialogue on campaign standards and possible referrals to appropriate authorities.
