Chatham administrators report graduation, reconfiguration progress; HR supervisor named

An administrator reported that 306 students walked at CHS graduation and that four graduates will join Cougar Academy. The same speaker said the district is in good shape to open schools in August and described the scheduled physical moves of materials from three elementary schools to Lafayette and from Lafayette to CMS as part of the reconfiguration.
Facilities staff reported construction progress: sections of the high school roof were roughly 95% complete, with only metal trim and final inspections remaining; the contractor for the CMS reconfiguration is on schedule to finish before school starts. HVAC replacement projects at the high school, Lafayette and middle school were described as progressing on schedule, though crews addressed a water issue on July 1 when a shallow valve failed in the middle-school 170s wing; custodial and maintenance crews and Servpro cleaned the affected areas so rooms can be finished.
The board accepted the resignation of Beth Grant, whom a district official praised for years of service and for saving costs and improving systems. The board introduced Sarah Lasky as the recommended new supervisor of human resources; Lasky said, "My name is Sarah Latsky, and I'm truly honored to be recommended for the supervisor of human resources position. I'm excited to join such a professional and collaborative administrative team." The board also introduced Geeta Furia, recommended as supervisor of science and instructional technology; Furia said she is "so honored to be here" and looks forward to starting next week.
Administrators said the Lafayette electrical panel upgrade is slated for July and that Liberty Moving will handle materials transfers between schools. The board's Finance & Facilities committee said it will update the demographer's report to reflect new housing and changing enrollment trends; committee members noted that enrollment projections are not a simple head-count because some students require additional services that affect costs.
Next steps: the administration will email requested enrollment numbers to a public commenter and continue work on finishing construction and final inspections ahead of the school year.
