Key approved items included $15,000 for county auditor legal services; $9,000 to cover refrigeration repairs in the coroner—s office; $300,000 for county self‑insurance funding; $84,000 for community corrections electronic home detention contractual services; and a $50,000 overtime appropriation for community corrections to cover staffing shortfalls. Council also approved salary and contract alignment requests for county highway and local roads and streets. Several transfers across sheriff, commissioners, jail and circuit court budgets were approved in a consolidated motion.
Council discussed a substantial set of maintenance needs at the old courthouse and coliseum utilities. Staff reported recent expenditures of roughly $300,000 for roof and masonry work and noted additional window and sub‑basement remediation work may follow; the council asked staff to clarify how current year encumbrances will roll into the 2025 request. On the riverboat utilities line, staff explained the $122,500 request is intended to cover increased utility costs at the old courthouse and the coliseum through year end. All motions for the above appropriations and transfers passed by voice vote.
