Chatham board hears construction and facilities updates; accepts several donations

Facilities staff reported that sections of the high school roof are “a little over 95% completed,” with only metal trim and a final inspection pending. HVAC replacement projects at the high school, Lafayette and Bridle remain on schedule. Staff described a minor incident on July 1 when a shut‑off valve was disconnected during work at the middle school’s January wing, causing water intrusion that custodial staff and a contracted remediation firm (Servpro) addressed so flooring work could resume. An electrical panel upgrade at Lafayette is scheduled for July.
Mister Smith moved finance and facilities agenda items B1–B22 to the board for approval and highlighted donations: a $1,000 NJASBO associate business member scholarship to a CHS 2025 graduate, a donation tied to volunteer hours from Bank of America on behalf of Jill Weber, and a $5,500 contribution from the Chatham Booster Club to be used toward a district subscription or program. The consent block passed by roll call, recorded as 9–0.
The finance and facilities committee also noted plans to contract for playground drainage work at the middle school, to engage Liberty Moving to relocate materials for the reconfiguration project, and to pursue a mural project at CHS pending logistics.
The board did not provide detailed contractor names, project budgets beyond donated amounts, or firm timelines for all listed tasks at the meeting.
