Chatham board accepts HR chief resignation, introduces new HR and science supervisors

The School District of the Chathams Board of Education on July 1 accepted the resignation of Beth Grant, the district’s chief human resources officer, and introduced two recommended hires to fill supervisory roles.

Superintendent Dr. Sortino called attention to Grant’s resignation and praised her years of service, saying Grant had “done absolutely incredible work” and noting the chief’s contributions to staff and families. Board members thanked Grant for service and wished her well.

The board introduced Sarah Latzke, recommended for the supervisor of human resources position. Latzke said, “I’m truly honored to be recommended for the supervisor of human resources,” and that she looked forward to supporting district staff. The board also introduced Geeta Faria as the new supervisor of science and instructional technology; Faria described more than a decade of classroom experience and seven years supervising K–12 science and gifted programs and said she was “super excited to join the team.”

Board members moved personnel agenda items A1–A25 (including addendum items) as a block; the motion carried as recorded. The board indicated CEA contract provisions and per‑diem arrangements for moving staff were addressed as part of personnel and finance committee discussions.

The personnel approvals and introductions were presented as part of the board’s larger summer reconfiguration work, which the district said is on track in staffing and operations ahead of the fall term. No hiring start dates or contract terms were specified for the new supervisors during the meeting.
