Haysville board approves food‑service and policy updates, OKs consent agenda

The Haysville Board of Education approved several routine but consequential items at its August meeting, including the consent agenda, the treasurer's report, a revised food‑service policy and a set of KASB policy updates.

During consent discussion Speaker 4 explained a proposal to issue activity fund credit cards that would allow cards to be issued directly from activity accounts rather than routing purchases through district cards; he said controls and approval systems remain in place and the auditor had been consulted. The consent agenda passed 6‑0.

On action items, Speaker 10 reviewed the food‑service policy and confirmed parents receive automatic messages when student meal accounts are low. Board members debated whether a two‑day notice window to add funds was adequate; Speaker 1 said she was comfortable with the two‑day standard if staff supports it. The board approved the food‑service policy 6‑0.

Speaker 10 also presented recommended KASB policy language (including two options for fundraising language). After discussion the board chose option 2, which includes board members in fundraising disclosure language, and approved the policy updates 6‑0.

All votes recorded in the meeting were unanimous where counts were stated.
