GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. — The board on Monday previewed a short trailer for a professional video about "Mr. B’s Backyard," the district’s outdoor classroom program, and heard how the project will be shared beyond the district.
Presenters described a partnership with Stockton University, SRI, ETTC and the New Jersey Department of Education to create an 18–23 minute professional video and a shorter trailer shown in public for the first time. The video, presenters said, is intended for professional development and to highlight the outdoor classroom as a model that other districts could replicate.
Miss Summers and a faculty presenter described classroom activities (water sampling, observing wildlife, and student-led peer teaching) and noted community partners including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and local volunteer groups. One presenter said the project gives students direct experiences with local ecosystems: "When you get them out in nature, they'll learn to take care of it," she said.
The district indicated it will post the full video online and use it as a resource for teacher training and statewide outreach; no votes or budget items were tied to the presentation at the meeting.
