Members of the Type B Economic Development Corps and Parts Board discussed a series of parks and events items after the stage building motion. The presiding member (Speaker 1) said Marshall Miller of the youth association JYSA had asked to coordinate events with the city; the board suggested Miller present event ideas at the August meeting.
On recreation facilities, Speaker 3 confirmed that pickleball courts were included in next year’s budget. "They're in next year's budget y'all approved," Speaker 3 said.
On Cooper Valley Park, Speaker 3 said staff will pursue a parks-and-wildlife grant and that a major gas line running through the site constrains what can be built; sidewalks and some site improvements are possible but buildings or restrooms over the line are not. Staff said they will bring the gas-line maps and coordinate site visits to confirm exact locations before finalizing plans.
