Planning staff said the property is zoned B‑3 (city center commercial) and that council has postponed a pending rooftop expansion vote — related to the same hotel — until Oct. 21 at the applicant's request.
Planning staff provided context for the withdrawal, saying the hotel had experienced issues with valet stacking and blocking Evergreen during events, which staff described as creating a traffic problem. An audience member asked why the applicant withdrew now if it intends to return with a similar proposal; Planner Bartley said the applicant wants to consult the Transportation Commission and address council concerns about parking before pursuing additional approvals.
The commission took no formal action on the application because the application was withdrawn; staff noted the item remains noticed and may reappear on a future agenda when the applicant submits a revised proposal or after Transportation Commission review.
The planning commission will monitor any resubmittal and the scheduled Transportation Commission discussion; no vote was taken on the proposal at this meeting.
