The Catawba County Board of Education unanimously approved an interlocal agreement with Lincoln County on Sept. 22 to formalize student assignments after a recent boundary update.
Dr. Matt Stover, superintendent, described the agreement and its timing, saying the affected students "are already with us or the students remained in Lincoln County, and that the payment for these children won't begin until the next school year." The board then moved to adopt the resolution and approved it by a voice/raise-of-hand vote.
Board members did not request amendments during the presentation. The agreement was presented as a resolution and adoption was recorded as unanimous.
Next steps outlined by the superintendent: implementation of the administrative details with Lincoln County Schools and county commissioners, and initiation of payment obligations beginning with the next school year as specified in the agreement.
