Boyle County honors Frances, its first female Eagle Scout

At its Aug. 12 meeting the Boyle County Fiscal Court recognized Frances, a 15-year-old scout, as the first female Eagle Scout in Boyle County. The judge presented a county certificate of honor and Frances described the requirements she met to earn the rank — merit badges, leadership and a community-benefit Eagle project in which she refurbished benches at the local humane society.
Mary Carter, representing the congressman's office, read a prepared congressional commendation entered into the congressional record congratulating Frances for her achievement and encouraging continued community service. Frances said she completed the project by scraping and repainting benches and earned multiple merit badges and leadership responsibilities in scouting.
Court members praised Frances’s leadership and noted the milestone as a historic moment for the county; Scout leaders and family members joined the presentation.
