Caledonia Board approves $744,092 bus purchase, Terrace Ridge playground and multiple technology contracts

Board member (speaker 8) moved the amended bus-purchase motion, saying, “I move that the board approve the purchase of the ... as presented at a total cost of $744,092.” The motion was amended on the floor to remove a reference to the “2023 bond” language; the board then approved the amended motion by roll call.
The board also approved a purchase agreement with Sinclair Recreation for the supply, installation and renovation of playground elements and surfacing at Terrace Ridge Elementary for $389,786.94. Board member (speaker 4) moved the playground motion and it was seconded and approved by roll call.
Trustees approved multiple district technology vendor contracts to initiate work in several bid categories. The motion lists these contract amounts as: a districtwide copier purchase from Applied Innovation for $541,360.14; a high-school north paging system through Town and Country Group for $175,560; classroom instructional technology upgrades through Bridal Audio Visual for $473,824; and low-voltage structured cabling through Shareco Communications for $113,145. The motion was moved, seconded and passed on roll call.
District staff told the board that bids for network switches were on the street and scheduled to be opened later in the month; those switch purchases were described as funded by the 2020 and 2023 bond programs and would support Wi-Fi, phone systems, classroom technology and an upgraded PA/mass-notification system. Technology staff said district technicians will install the switches in-house, saving an estimated $10,000–$20,000 in labor.
The board approved the items after brief procedural discussion; roll-call confirmations followed each motion.
