District updates: athletic fields, HVAC schedule and Bear Hill Elementary construction

Facilities committee members said HVAC renovations and upgrades at Beaumont, New Eagle, TE Middle School and Conestoga High School are on track to begin after the school year, with a stated start near June 19 and a projected completion around Aug. 21. Interior and exterior renovations across several elementary schools and the middle and high school remain on the schedule.
Work on the district athletic fields is continuing: contractors reported stormwater basins and drainage lines under construction and significant earthwork that will change site terrain as materials are delivered. The district posted a project video and timeline on its website for public tracking.
Bear Hill Elementary (noted by the committee as the new name for the replacement elementary school) held a pre‑bid conference April 4 with multiple contractors in attendance. Committee members flagged macroeconomic uncertainty — including steel and raw material cost volatility — as a factor that could increase overall cost for taxpayers. The committee said substantial demolition has been completed and shared a plan to pare an initial $7.6 million scope down to prioritized work around $4.7 million.
The committee also emphasized a district‑wide data communications project (data center firewall, wireless infrastructure and phone system) as the largest single capital priority for the next year. Committee members said they will continue clarifying capital sources and uses and will provide updates at future meetings.
