Jennifer Faddis was elected president of the Bentonville School District Board of Education at the board’s July 15 meeting, and Tatum was elected vice president, both by unanimous roll-call votes.
The board nominated Faddis after former president Kelly Carlson moved out of the district; Willie nominated Faddis and Bill Akins seconded the nomination. Becky conducted the roll call and every member voted yes. Board members Bill and Rachel were sworn in earlier in the meeting; the oath referenced the U.S. and Arkansas constitutions and conflict-of-interest provisions under state law.
The leadership votes were routine and uncontested. The presidership will now oversee upcoming items already on the district calendar, including a July 31 personnel-focused meeting and an Aug. 8 teacher kickoff event that will include introductions of board members.
The meeting then moved to other business including the fiscal-year finance report, property acquisition and handbook and policy approvals.
