Summary
Assistant Superintendent Trish Perry presented the district’s 205.26 Operational Plan covering student achievement, staffing, family engagement, and a capital‑levy strategy; she said the district was chosen for a three‑year CAP (comprehensive arts planning) grant through the Perpich Center and the board approved the plan by voice vote.
Assistant Superintendent Trish Perry presented the Alexandria Public School District’s 205.26 Operational Plan, highlighting priorities that include student achievement and engagement, staff training for READ Act requirements, student‑centered learning at Discovery, expansion of electives including an upcoming heavy‑equipment program, family and community engagement, recruitment and retention strategies and operational efficiencies.
Perry told the board the district was selected as one of 10 school districts to participate in the Perpich Center’s comprehensive arts planning (CAP) grant, a three‑year program that may support curriculum and program development. She described work to expand portfolios for Discovery students, a multi‑aged home base at Discovery Middle School, and previewed an expanded healthy snacks program at elementary schools. Perry also said the district is reviewing dashboard and committee check‑in cadence and will provide progress reports in January and at year end.
Board discussion included questions about the frequency of committee check‑ins and how to present a public dashboard. After the presentation, a board member moved to approve the operational plan; a second was given and the motion passed by voice vote.
Perry and administrators also referenced a possible capital‑levy referendum to help address general fund revenue needs, and said communications work will continue to inform parents and the community on standard response protocols for safety.
