Board approves landlord consent for TV tower equipment and signs on to Pheasants Forever dedication event

The Gucci County Board approved two additions to the agenda related to public lands and communications infrastructure.
First, staff presented a landlord waiver and consent agreement requested by a television operator that has refinanced with a new investment group; the agreement would allow the operator’s lender to remove equipment from the county-owned Van Den Road tower as collateral in case of default. County legal review compared the document to a similar agreement approved the prior year and identified no new legal concerns; the board approved consenting to the arrangement.
Second, the board approved recognizing a Pheasants Forever dedication event (Monday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.) as a board activity. Pheasants Forever purchased a parcel near Manitou and Birchdale that it plans to donate to the DNR as a sharp-tailed grouse management area; staff and the group requested the county chair consider remarks and asked commissioners to attend if a quorum forms.
Why it matters: the landlord consent preserves county control of the lease while allowing the station’s lender to secure its collateral; the dedication acknowledges conservation work and memorializes local conservation leaders.
