The Maricopa Unified School District governing board approved the district personnel schedule after a brief discussion about staffing gaps. Human-resources presenter Mister Beckett told the board the district is not fully staffed and identified six classroom positions that remained open at the time of the meeting; four of those were leaves covered by long-term substitutes. "We currently have 6 classroom positions open," Beckett said.
Beckett said the district also has several classified and paraprofessional vacancies and that interviews are underway. He identified three specific vacancies he expected to fill quickly: two social-studies positions and one English position. Board members asked when the remaining vacancies would be filled; Beckett said he was optimistic those openings would be addressed by the next board agenda.
A motion to approve the HR schedule was made and seconded; the board recorded unanimous approval by roll call.
