Superintendent highlights kindergarten jump-start, new principal and campus construction

During the Aug. 26 meeting the superintendent provided an update on fall-start activities and facilities work across the Coatesville Area School District.
The superintendent reported the district ran a kindergarten jump-start program that screened roughly 85–90% of incoming kindergarten participants and helped teachers plan instruction. A three-day new-teacher induction and a bus tour of district schools were held to acquaint staff with facilities and the history of Coatesville.
The board welcomed Jarvin Williams as the new principal of North Brandywine Middle School, replacing Dr. Eugenia Roberts; Dr. Rybarczyk noted Jarvin Williams’ prior assistant-principal experience and familiarity with the district. Transportation operations were described as largely successful with minor start-of-year hiccups.
Construction updates included openings of new annex space at North Brandywine to house eighth graders, an eight-classroom addition at Reesville with new entrances and site work, interior renovations (paint, flooring, cabinetry), repaving work at the stadium and other resurfacing, and ongoing steel and flooring installation at the new Dough Run school. District leaders said interior finishes would be completed soon and that photos of progress will be posted to the district website.
The superintendent closed by announcing committee and board meeting dates (Sept. 9 and Sept. 23).
