Council approves consent agenda, hears presentations and adjourns

The Lawrence City Council approved its consent agenda — the meeting agenda for the evening and minutes from the June 17 regular meeting — after a motion by Councilor Miller and a second from Councilor Campbell. The mayor called for the question and the vote was recorded by voice; the consent agenda was approved.
No members of the public had signed up to speak during the public participation portion, the mayor said. The council then moved to new business: the mayor introduced Jocelyn Patterson as the new zoning and planning director and Lawrence County Emergency Management Director Sonny Latta briefed the council about household preparedness and a grant-funded distribution of weather radios.
A motion to adjourn was made later in the meeting and, with no objections, the mayor declared the meeting adjourned.
