Chester-Upland updates recovery plan dashboard, reports enrollment growth and new programs

Chester, Pa. — At the Sept. 25 Chester-Upland School District receiver’s meeting, Receiver Ann Nichols and Superintendent Mumin outlined steps to make the district’s recovery plan easier to monitor and share with the public.
Superintendent Mumin said the receiver, the chief recovery officer and district leaders “met with the recovery team at Duquesne City Schools to learn more about their monitoring dashboard” and that district IT is working to “develop an internal dashboard around the recovery plan” as well as a “forward-facing” public version. The dashboard is intended to show implementation progress and updates staff internally, she said.
The superintendent also provided operational updates: IT completed more than 560 help-desk tickets in the last 30 days; the district is upgrading accounting software with a planned November 1 go-live to improve payables, payroll and fund accounting; and pre-K enrollment is at 99 percent.
On student supports, Mumin drew attention to McKinney-Vento services for displaced students, saying the reported count rose from about 33 to 41 since the start of school, and urged families who need assistance to contact pupil services. She named Miss Bowser and Dr. Wilson as contacts for counseling and pupil-services support.
The meeting flagged several new and continuing programs: a 21st-century after-school program with bilingual applications, a global-schools initiative the superintendent said is supported by Governor Shapiro and will involve city partners, and a fresh-fruits-and-vegetables program beginning for pre-K–5 students. The presentation also thanked community partners — including Kimberly Park for donations to the district’s “victory closets.”
No formal action was taken on the dashboard at the meeting; staff said updates would continue to appear in presentations until the public-facing dashboard is launched.
