At the Jan. 28 meeting of the City Council of Vineland, elected officials highlighted civic engagement by local students and honored two long‑serving municipal employees who are retiring.
Council opened by introducing students from Doctor Manny School who led the pledge of allegiance; certificates were noted for participating students. Councilmembers thanked the principal, teachers and parents for the school’s engagement in civic life.
The council adopted Resolution 2025‑32 recognizing Dale Ellebuff for his years of service with the Department of Administration and Recreation; members spoke of his character and contributions to youth programming. Ellebuff accepted the recognition and thanked colleagues and residents, recalling festivals and community events he helped run.
Resolution 2025‑33 recognized Officer Julio de Jesus for his service in the Vineland Police Department beginning in January 2004 and authorized, upon completion of required paperwork, presentation of his service weapon in recognition of his years of service. Director of Public Safety Edna Nalicea and acting chief officers read the resolution and praised Julio’s mentoring of youth and lengthy public service. Officer de Jesus thanked his colleagues, family and faith as part of his remarks.
The council also adopted a resolution commending the Miss Vineland pageant, noting the event’s long history, scholarship award and community service platform. Councilmembers encouraged support for local arts and community events, including the Landis Theater’s upcoming schedule.
No votes were taken other than the formal adoption of the resolutions and the items were submitted to the mayor for approval or disapproval as required.
