Director: chronic absenteeism down by 244 students; Hopewell groundbreaking set for Sept. 24

Bradley County Schools Director of Schools Dr. Linda Cash told the Board on Sept. 9 that the district has seen a year-over-year drop in chronic absenteeism of 244 students.
Dr. Cash highlighted Prospect Elementary, noting its chronic absenteeism rate of 10.8% compared with a stated state average of 18.9%, and praised staff for efforts to improve attendance. She described outreach and in-school initiatives designed to get students to school, saying, "we focus a lot on getting kids in school because we believe if they're at school, they can learn."
Dr. Cash also announced the Hopewell groundbreaking scheduled for Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. and congratulated Bradley Central High School for achieving a TVOS level 5 school-wide composite score. She thanked staff members, including Kyle Page and Zach Pike, for assisting an unhoused person overnight to ensure the individual's safety.
Dr. Cash closed by welcoming the district—s state board education student member and thanked administrative staff for support.
