The Glendale Elementary District Governing Board voted Sept. 11 to approve a square‑footage reduction that removes spaces no longer used by the district for traditional classroom instruction from its state‑reported educational inventory.
Finance staff explained the change is an accounting and reporting cleanup rather than a closure decision. "What we're attempting to do is really updating the square footage that is no longer being used by the district for educational purposes," Mike Barragan told the board, citing Coyote Ridge as an example of a campus used by partners and not for traditional public school classroom instruction. He said the state requires districts to remove such square footage from their educational inventory.
Board members moved and seconded the recommendation and recorded 'aye' votes; the item passed as presented. Staff said the adjustment reflects current facility usage and leases and will be reflected in the district's reporting to the state.
