Glendale board adopts multiple policy revisions and hears first reading on fingerprint clearance

The Glendale Elementary District Governing Board approved several policy revisions at its Sept. 11 meeting and received a first reading on updated fingerprint clearance requirements for employees.
Superintendent Cindy Scott Jones presented the second readings, saying they covered the district's safety program (policy EB), discipline/suspension/dismissal (GCQF), student health services (JLC), administration of medicines to students (JLCD) and student records (JR). "The second readings are from the safety program, the discipline suspension, student health services and medicines, as well as student records," she told the board.
A board member moved to approve the second readings and adopt the revisions; the motion was seconded and passed with recorded "aye" votes. The meeting record shows approval without further questions from board members.
During the first-reading item, Superintendent Segata Jones outlined a proposed update to staff qualifications and fingerprinting language. She said the district removed one section and updated the policy to specify an IVP fingerprint clearance card requirement for all employees. That item was presented as a first reading and was not adopted on Sept. 11.
Next steps: The adopted policy revisions take effect per district procedure; the fingerprint/IVP change will return to the board for a subsequent reading and possible adoption.
