Greensville County — The Greensville County School Board on Sept. 8 approved a set of action items including a student-representative policy, memoranda of understanding with two counseling providers, and membership for the county’s special-education advisory committee.
The board adopted a VSBA policy concerning student representatives (referred to in meeting materials as policy "bbbb"). "We do want to hear the voice of our student," the presenter said before asking for a motion; the board voted 'aye' to adopt the policy.
The board also approved an MOU with TDT Start to Finish, a counseling-support organization that worked with the division last year, and an MOU with Building Our Youth to provide counseling support during the school day. Both motions were moved, seconded and approved on voice votes.
The board approved the 2025–26 membership roster for the CEAC (special education advisory) committee, which the presenter said is composed of parents of students with disabilities, community partners and representatives; the committee will meet four times per year with its first virtual meeting scheduled for Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m.
Administratively, the board designated Cynthia Whitaker as the VDOE-authorized signature designee to sign VDOE reports, documents and requisitions in the acting superintendent’s absence; that motion also carried.
Votes and procedure: Each action was approved following standard motions and voice votes recorded in the minutes as 'ayes have it.' The meeting record does not list a roll-call tally of individual board members for these items.
Next steps: Approved MOUs will proceed under the terms discussed in the meeting; CEAC will convene for its first meeting on Sept. 10, and staff will implement the student-representative policy and the VDOE-signatory arrangement.
