Council approves several plats and rezones two properties for single-family attached housing

On Sept. 22 the Washington City Council approved a series of land-use measures aimed at enabling redevelopment and consolidation of downtown and near-downtown properties.
Council accepted a preliminary and then final consolidation plat for 100 West 10th Street (a former industrial property referenced as the Powell’s building) and approved the ordinance authorizing the consolidation plat. Staff said the applicant intends to rehab the building and likely seek a tenant. Council also approved the final plat for Winters Brothers Subdivision Plat 2.
Earlier in the meeting council held a public hearing and then approved the rezoning of 512 and 514 West 2nd Street from R2 (two-family residential overlay) to R1C (single-family attached residential) to accommodate a zero lot-line, single-family attached dwelling. Staff explained the rezoning would match similar nearby conversions.
Votes on the plats and rezoning were taken on second reading and recorded as 'aye' on roll-call votes; council recorded no opposing votes in the transcript. Staff said bids and construction on related detention basin and stormwater easements will follow advertised bids this fall for separate infrastructure work tied to nearby development.
