Rathdrum planning commission recommends approval of Meyer Meadows 71‑lot preliminary plat amid water and easement concerns

The City of Rathdrum Planning Commission on Aug. 28 recommended that City Council approve the Meyer Meadows preliminary plat, a proposal to create 71 residential lots on about 21 acres, after a public hearing that drew multiple residents who raised concerns about a vacated utility easement, loss of trees and local water pressure.

The recommendation was made after a presentation from the applicant’s engineer and a staff report concluding the proposal meets the city’s approval criteria. An unnamed commissioner moved to recommend approval with the conditions listed in the staff report dated Aug. 28, 2025; the motion was seconded and carried by roll call. The commission instructed the planning and zoning administrator to forward a written report and the commission’s recommendation to City Council.

Drew Dittman of Lake City Engineering, presenting for the applicant, said the subdivision would divide the residential portion of the annexed property into 33 R‑1 lots and 38 conditional R‑2S lots.
