At its Sept. 18 meeting the Marion City Council approved the consent agenda (including a bookmobile hold-harmless agreement), repealed the Marion Municipal Airport Committee ordinance, approved airport overlay amendments (ord. 25-26) and approved rezoning (ord. 25-27) after suspending rules; council recorded at least one abstention (mayor) on the rezoning final vote.
The Marion City Council took several formal actions at its Sept. 18 meeting.
• Consent agenda: Council approved the consent agenda by voice vote. A later roll call recorded approval of resolution no. 32553 (bookmobile hold harmless agreement with Marion 4 Oaks) with one abstention.
• Ordinance 25-25: Council approved final consideration of ordinance 25-25, repealing Chapter 12, Article 7 of the Marion Code concerning the Marion Municipal Airport Committee.
• Ordinance 25-26: Council approved second consideration of ordinance 25-26, amending Chapter 3.40-5.11 relating to Marion Municipal Airport land use and height overlay zoning regulations.
• Ordinance 25-27 (rezoning): Council moved to suspend the rules and proceed to final consideration of ordinance 25-27 (rezoning property south of Marion Airport Road and east of Enterprise Drive to Planned Unit Development for several named applicants). Council approved final consideration and the ordinance passed; the mayor recorded an abstention on the final vote.
• Traffic advisory (Winslow Road): After public comment and staff recommendation, council concurred with the TAC report but amended it to reduce the posted speed to 30 mph on Winslow Road from Tower Terrace to Burries Run Bridge. Staff will prepare an ordinance for council readings.
Where votes were recorded, the meeting used voice votes and several motions generated a recorded abstention (notably the mayor on the rezoning final consideration). The transcript does not include a detailed roll-call tally for every voice vote.
