Forest Moon Festival draws national attention; organizers say exposure will boost next year

Organizers told the Crescent City Council that the third annual Forest Moon Festival delivered strong local participation and unexpected national attention that they expect will grow attendance next year.
Cassandra, speaking via Zoom, said People magazine listed the festival among reasons to love California and that regional NBC outlets and MSN produced coverage; Rebel Force Radio, a long-running Star Wars podcast, aired a four-hour live episode highlighting the festival. Staff estimated attendees from more than 15 states and about 60 vendors participating across Humboldt and Del Norte counties.
City staff and volunteers were credited for on-site logistics: public works set up the event, police and fire assisted with safety and costuming drew crowds. Organizers said the festivalincreased business for downtown merchants via a passport and scavenger-hunt activity and that photos, podcast episodes and online videos provided extended promotion.
Council members praised the organizers and noted the festivalcould become one of the county's largest events with careful planning and continued partnership with film commissions and volunteers.
