The Crescent City Council received and approved the city's annual water-supply and demand assessment after a presentation by consultant Oren Plokter of Freshwater Environmental.
Plokter told the council the analysis examined 75 years of precipitation records, Smith River discharge trends and groundwater-elevation data and found that even in a dry 12-month scenario the groundwater base and collector drawdown provide enough flow to meet city needs for the coming year. Staff noted the city continues to monitor baseline flows and reservoir/collector drawdown metrics and has not triggered any formal water-storage contingency measures; voluntary conservation remains recommended.
Council accepted the report and approved the staff recommendation to receive and file the 2025 assessment. No mandatory restrictions were ordered and staff will continue monitoring and report back if metrics change.
