Chesterfield County approves most fire and rescue contracts, rejects one fire contract

After executive-session discussion, the Chesterfield County Council approved a series of fire department and rescue squad contracts but rejected one fire contract as presented.
The council approved contracts for Brock Mill, High Point, Ruby Mount Croghan, Bay Springs and Sand Hill fire departments by voice vote. Council then voted to reject the Chills Mill Fire Department contract “in its current form” following a motion to that effect. Council members who participated thanked committee members and local department representatives for their work negotiating the agreements.
Council also approved rescue squad contracts collectively for Jefferson, Sherral, Chesterfield, Pageland, Patrick and MacBee. Members publicly thanked rescue squads and committee participants for their efforts; no dollar amounts for the contracts were listed in the public portion of the transcript.
