Board approves personnel items, final budget and donations; emergency evacuation agreement renewed

At the School District of the Chathams board meeting the board approved multiple personnel and finance motions and renewed an emergency evacuation agreement.

The board approved personnel agenda items A1–A28, with additional names added on the addendum (items 1, 2, 10, 22 and a new item 29). The motion was moved and seconded, roll-call votes were called for named trustees and the personnel motion passed 9–0.

Mister Smith moved items B1–B18 to a vote; the finance package included adoption of the final budget and acceptance of multiple donations: $25,000 from the Chatham Middle School PTO toward a new playground; $6,000 from the Chatham High School PTO for painting the main lobby; $10,000 from the Chatham Baseball Club for maintenance; a donation from Bank of America in honor of Jill Weber to be used at the superintendent’s discretion; and donated musical instruments (including a piccolo and trumpet) from the Von Hagel family. The finance motion passed by roll call 9–0.

Policy item D1, a renewal of an emergency evacuation agreement described as a straight renewal with no changes, was moved by Mister Ryan and passed 9–0.

Minutes for the March 17 public session and the April 2 special meeting were also taken up earlier in the meeting with roll-call votes recorded and specified abstentions for the April 2 minutes noted in the transcript.

No additional substantive policy changes were made beyond the approvals listed; the board adjourned the public portion and moved to an executive session where further actionable items were expected.
