Dr. Harmon reported the teaching and learning committee met Feb. 8 and celebrated 131 newly approved teacher incentive allotment designations; 99 are newly designated and 32 teachers received a higher designation. Dr. Harmon said payouts will range from about $3,000 to $28,000 as calculated by the Texas Education Agency and are expected to appear on the June 15 paychecks, subject to taxes. The committee also heard updates on recruitment for advanced academic programs including Aspire, Odyssey, Inquire (dual language), Bryan Collegiate High School, the IB program at Bryan High, and AP Capstone at Rudder.
Miss Benford summarized the Feb. 4 city school committee meeting: the Showman Theater project is on hold while boardwalk construction continues; two wells were discussed for the lake area; an April 5 League of Women Realtors tour and a Brazos Valley Children’s Literacy Festival were announced; and multiple volleyball and basketball events at the Legend Event Center may bring an estimated $12,400,000 in local revenue. The committee also discussed the district’s CTE programs and asked for city support for strategic planning and subcommittee structures.
The executive committee provided an update on planning: Mister Bridal said the committee reviewed an upcoming March 3 'team of 8' training covering school finance overview, compensation planning, a legislative update and budget development for the 2025–26 school year, and reviewed facility assessments, equipment life cycles and demographer reports to inform strategic planning.
