Superintendent Dr. Solito presented four resolutions submitted by other school committees and the Rhode Island Association of School Committees that call on the state to reallocate transportation funds currently tied to private‑school students to offset costs for transporting homeless students. "For Burrillville, if the private‑school money is reallocated to homeless students, it would be approximately $151,000 for FY26," he said.
The committee moved to receive and file the resolutions; members voted to receive and file them. No final state decision on the reallocation had been announced at the time of the meeting.
The board also approved warrant No. 9 for FY24–25 with total expenditures read into the record as $3,049,426.03. Members did not request a roll‑call vote; actions were approved by unanimous voice votes.
Next steps: The superintendent said he will consult the town manager about presenting the feasibility study bids (discussed separately) and will follow up on any developments from the state regarding transportation funding.
