Boerne Education Foundation reports $580K gross fundraising, $196K in teacher grants

The Boerne Education Foundation (BEF) presented its annual impact report to the Boerne ISD Board on April 21, detailing fundraising, grantmaking and strategic plans.
BEF President Nicole Gallegos told trustees the foundation has raised a little over $9 million since its 1997 founding and reported roughly $580,000 gross fundraising for the most recent year. The foundation awarded $196,284 in teacher innovation grants (TIGs) and provided teacher gift-card distributions; BEF said about half of annual funds support teacher innovation grants while the remainder funds gift cards and capital disbursements to campuses.
Gallegos outlined BEF—s five primary fundraising events, recent statewide awards for communications, and strategic goals including donor stewardship through a GiveSmart database, bylaw and policy updates, staffing growth to support expanding programs and cultivating alumni engagement.
Trustees thanked BEF for supplementing district programs and noted the role BEF plays offsetting funding gaps created by state funding patterns.
BEF said it will continue to refine governance documents and pursue strategic staffing to support growth as the district expands.
