Council directs staff to advance Lee Street sidewalk project using cooperative purchasing

Miss Miley (staff) said she had met with the designer and a potential contractor but that plans and surveys are several years old and that the designer could not provide a complete cost estimate without updated information. She said several lots have been developed since the original survey, requiring plan revisions.
A motion to proceed using the cooperative purchasing process was made, seconded and approved. Councilmembers emphasized the project’s long history — the mayor noted it has been discussed for about 14 years — and framed the sidewalk as a meaningful community connector between schools, neighborhoods and the Sawmill Branch Trail. The motion included direction to return a contract for council action after procurement.
Next steps: staff will pursue cooperative purchasing procurement, refine plans and cost estimates, and present a contract back to council for final approval.
