With the lone bid exceeding local expectations and formal Texas procurement thresholds applying when projects exceed $50,000, staff said they have called the district lawyer to explore options: rebid, break the project into smaller components, or assist local contractors with bid compliance.
Trustees discussed local contractor capacity and procurement publicity (including Texas Smart Buy postings) but did not award the contract. Staff will report back with legal guidance and options at the next business meeting.
